The harsh winds started to die down at some point while Sara sat on the floor of the carriage house, pondering what the purpose of a carriage house was supposed to be. It was an absurd thing to think about – especially now, given everything that had gone on over the last two days – yet it was oddly comforting, pondering how some common things from the past could be so utterly nonsensical when held under modern scrutiny. It also gave her a solid distraction from the way the stable walls of her life were crumbling around her.
