Foresight is Flawless – Chapter 75

Sunday, July 4

My plan fell apart before it even got started. Everything had been in place. The restaurant confirmed my reservation, the ring was in my suit jacket in the car and I’d gone over what I was going to say to Jenna at least a thousand times since that morning. Every single angle was covered.

Except for Jenna getting out of the shower and telling me she didn’t feel like going out to eat. [Read more...]

Foresight is Flawless – Chapter 68

Jenna was still grinning from our morning in bed as we took the familiar drive home from Elaine’s house that night. I had a little personal time coming to me so I’d arranged to take the whole day off. We’d spent the better part of it in bed until we had to get ready for dinner with Elaine and Lana. Of course, we were late because I hadn’t been able to keep my hands off Jenna once I saw her all soapy in the shower. [Read more...]

Foresight is Flawless – Chapter 67

Thursday, July 1

Jackson was already asleep when Jenna got home. She considered waking him, but thought better of it. Working on two cases at the same time probably caused him more than his fair share of sleepless nights since Lana was taken. Instead, she curled into him and tried her best not to be disappointed.

She failed. [Read more...]

Foresight is Flawless – Chapter 64

I’d recognized Mara from her picture the instant I spotted her. Unfortunately, Lana was nowhere to be seen. And there was a big guy ushering her out of the airport towards the parking garage. She acted like she knew the guy, but there was something in her expression telling me something was very wrong. [Read more...]

Mickels spotted them as soon as he got to the ticket counter. Mara picked up her tickets, looking as though she didn’t have a care in the world. Dumb blonde syndrome, he guessed. His ex-wife had been a dumb blonde, completely oblivious to everything going on in the world – oblivious right until he put the bullet between her eyes. [Read more...]

LWLU – Michael’s Betrayal

It took Sara another ten minutes after Nika left to screw up enough courage to leave the bathroom in search of Michael. For all she knew, he’d already left with Jess. Based on the way he’d been all hands with her just before the party, he was desperate to get laid tonight. It probably didn’t matter to him which one of his girlfriends he was with.

Sara shoved that thought out of her mind. It was too painful. [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 118

Parker pulled the covers up around them and held Skylar close. It never ceased to amaze him how good making love to her felt or how spectacularly blue her eyes were when she’d gaze at him afterwards. It also surprised him that he could just hold her forever without getting sick of her being around.

Love was a funny thing. [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 116

I realized I was alone in bed before I opened my eyes. A quick glance at the clock revealed it was still a few hours before the alarm was set to go off. My first thought was that Price left without me, but that was silly since I could smell the coffee brewing in the kitchen. Besides, we had agreed the night before that there would be no more discussion about it.

I was going and that was that. [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 114

“Where do you think you’re going, Cherry?”

She groaned. “Don’t start with me tonight, Chill. Trevor kicked me out so I don’t have many options except for going over to Raptor’s and…” [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 107

“Where are you going?” Skylar asked sleepily from the bed.

Parker turned around at the door and smiled at her. “I want to make sure the doors and windows are locked. I’ll be right back.” [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 106

Price reached out and smoothed his hand over my cheek until his fingers tangled into my hair, freeing it from the loose ponytail that contained it. “Skylar, do you have any idea how beautiful you are when you aren’t on the defensive with me?”

I averted my eyes. [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 76

Tuesday, March 30

“Do you have any idea what time it is?”

Jackson jumped at the sound of Jenna’s voice from behind him. He was trying to avoid waking her up as he left this morning, but apparently he wasn’t as quiet as he’d hoped. Turning around he answered, “I was trying not to wake you.” [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 75

I watched from the counter as Price washed the dishes after our meal. My feet swung restlessly over the edge, occasionally banging into the cabinets as I waited for him to finish. He dropped the subject of my meeting with Raptor after telling me he was going to prep me for it and I was grateful for that. Outwardly, I could talk a good game, but I knew the truth on the inside. Raptor was a hardcore killer and I was way out of my league. Despite what I said, I wasn’t ready.

Not even close. [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 72

My house was empty when I got home from the bank. I didn’t know where the others went, but I was grateful for the peace and quiet. The encounter with Michael was more unsettling to me than I expected. Knowing what he was trying to do all this time made it even more difficult to steal from him – especially now that he knew I was up to something. [Read more...]

Alliance – Chapter 63

I normally liked to attend a power yoga class on Sunday mornings, but I was still in bed after three that afternoon. Fighting – among other things – with Parker had taken a lot out of me and I was exhausted. Besides, I reasoned I’d already gotten in my workout for the day.

Maybe for a few days… [Read more...]
