LWLU – Unexpected Warning

It took a while to regain her composure. That conversation was without a doubt the most difficult she’d ever had in her life. Difficult, but necessary. Once the initial shock of it wore off, everything would be better. Sara just had to make it from point A to point B and all would be well again.

Of course, when point A was permanently closing the door on Michael Scofield and point B was happily living the rest of her life as Mrs. Paul Kellerman, the journey from point to point could be lengthy.

Before Michael had the opportunity to come out of the bedroom, Sara hurried up the stairs. She didn’t want to risk running into him again. Not yet.

She slipped into the upstairs bathroom to check her appearance. Staring at her reflection, she decided she didn’t look like someone who’d just had an emotionally charged conversation. She looked tired.

And boy was she tired. It felt like this party had been going on for years, not since yesterday.

Sara exited the bathroom and crossed the hallway to Jane’s room, giving it a light rap with her knuckles. She poked her head in when she heard the blonde’s mumbled invitation from the other side.

“Hey. Can I talk to you for a minute?”

Jane glanced at her from the desk where she’d spread out textbooks and a laptop. “It’s your house.”

“I’m not going to make you talk to me.”

“It’s fine.”

Sara slipped into the room and closed the door softly. She sat on the edge of the bed and studied the blonde. Sharp features and even sharper eyes. “What are you studying?”

“Criminal psychology.” She turned around in her chair. “I figured there would be at least one awkward moment this weekend that I could use to finish my final paper for the winter term.” A half-hearted smile touched her lips. “Granted, I didn’t think things would happen this way.”

“I’m sorry you got caught in the middle of Lincoln and Veronica’s, uh, history.”

She shrugged. “I’m a big girl. I’ll be fine. It’s not like we’ve been going out all that long anyway.”

“Even still…Is there anything I can do to make things less awkward for you? I hate the idea of you having to stay locked up in here for the rest of the weekend like a prisoner.”

“You’re interesting.”

“Excuse me?”

“You’ve clearly got you own situation going on right now, yet you take the time to come check on me.”

“I don’t know what you mean.”

Jane’s eyes narrowed. “Oh, so we’re going to pretend I didn’t walk in on something in the kitchen you didn’t want anyone to witness? I suppose that also means coming up here to check on me was a ruse to find out if I was planning to let anyone know what I saw.”

“You walked in on Michael playing one of his pointless games. It wasn’t a big deal.”

“I guess that depends on how you define big deal. Besides, your feelings for that man have been written all over your face since I got here.”

“You’re reading into things that aren’t there, Jane.”

She shook her head. “That might work on your friends, but it doesn’t cut it on a psych major. Whatever history y’all two have is oozing all over this weekend.” After a beat, “No one else realizes it, so you’re secret’s safe.”

“Is it?”

“I have no interest in spilling the beans.”

“I appreciate that.”

“It’s not a big deal.” She paused to pull her hair back into a ponytail. “But if I can offer a piece of unsolicited advice, I would rethink your decisions.”

“My decisions?”

“If I were in your shoes, I’d accept Michael’s proposal over Paul’s.”

How was she supposed to respond to that? It was such an odd statement. “Well…You really don’t know Michael and Paul the way I do. Michael’s not good for me.”

“Paul’s not good for you either, Sara. He’s not one of the good guys.”

He wasn’t? “Why do you say that? You just met him.”

Jane turned her attention back to her laptop. “Try opening your eyes once in a while and you’ll see it for yourself. That man will take everything you have and shatter your heart in the end if you let him.”

“Jane…”

“Working towards a simultaneous undergrad and graduate degree takes a lot of concentration. If you’ll excuse me, I really do have a lot of work to do right now.

Newsmile – You never know. The could have a past…or a current relationship. Anything’s possible at this point.

Deb – I really shouldn’t answer, but…what the hell. Linc doesn’t know what Michael knows. But someone else in that house does. Erm…correction, at least one more person in that house does…

Sorry, no bonus chapters until after Freelancer ends next week. This weekend is just too insane with work. :(

So…..the psych major can pick up on Paul huh!!!!

And Sara’s feelings for Michael…… This is getting soooooo interesting. I get that Michael knows something about Paul that (in his mind) would change everything.

But Paul is Linc’s best friend!!! Does Linc know as much as he thinks he does?? Or is there some stuff about Paul that Linc does not know?? I’m trying to figure that one out in my head, as Sara is a long time friend of Linc’s as well, and I think Linc would have Sara’s best interests at heart.

What an interesting Saturday night coming up….feel free to post a bonus chapter….just sayin’….lol…..Mwah xxxx
