The room was suddenly stifling. His breath was like fire on her skin and his eyes burned with the same intense glow as he stared at her. Her mouth was dry; breath was impossible. What was happening just didn’t make sense. She should put a stop to this.
But she could say nothing.
“Well, Sara? It’s just the two of us now. Alone.” His gaze dropped to her lips and then made a slow ascent back to her eyes. “I’m going to kiss you unless you stop me.”
“Michael…”
“That doesn’t sound like a protest to me.”
Sara’s jaw quivered. “It wasn’t. Michael…” She let out a shaky breath. “What’s going on?”
“This.” His fingers still tangled in her nap-mussed hair, he applied the lightest of pressure at the back of her neck, moving her closer. His lips brushed over hers in a hesitant manner, unsure until her hands moved to his neck. With more confidence in the kiss, Michael let the hand not in her hair trail up her back from her waist until it found a place between her shoulder blades, pressing her body against his.
She couldn’t believe this was happening. Of course, she’d kissed her boyfriends before – who at sixteen hadn’t? – but this was different. This was Michael. No other guy ever made her lips tingle this way. It was neat. Maybe that’s what it was like to kiss someone you’d known for years…tingly.
His tongue slicked over her lips, probing, seeking permission. Tightening her arms around his neck, she granted it eagerly, parting her lips to give him access, expecting to feel the immediate thrust of his tongue. She didn’t. He took his time, letting the tip of his tongue explore every crease of her lips, memorizing them, before pressing forward. He awakened a nerve she didn’t know existed on the inside of her lip and a whimper escaped her throat while she squirmed on the bed.
Shivers of anticipation rippled across her skin, practically suffocating her with a feeling altogether unfamiliar to her as she clung to him for support. Though his hair was usually very short, he’d let it grow out a little for the winter and Sara let her fingers play through it, willing him, practically begging him to deepen the kiss further still.
And he did.
With a fluidity she didn’t know possible, Michael’s tongue slid against hers, eliciting another whimper. As their tongues tangoed against each other, Sara was struck by how good he tasted. All chocolate and peanut butter with just a tangy hint of banana. He was like a sinful dessert.
Another shiver went through her skin when his hand released her hair and stroked the bare skin of her neck. Electricity sparked between them, shooting lightning straight to her now hardened nipples. Oh God! Their bodies were pressed so tightly together…could he feel that?
Shyness consumed her. Why couldn’t she be wearing long flannel pajamas instead of satin baby doll ones? They concealed nothing. This was too embarrassing.
She pulled away from his kiss, looking down in shame at the sky blue satin clinging to her form while loosening her arms from his neck. Sara couldn’t find it in herself to meet his eyes. What was she thinking, sitting in her bed, kissing Michael? Maybe she wasn’t.
Michael let his forehead rest against hers and took a moment to catch his breath. “Sara…what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” She still couldn’t look at him. She tried to pull away, but he held her firm. “The singing kids on the movie are probably done now.”
“I’m not really interested in the movie right now.” His hands cupped her face, forcing her to meet his eyes. “What is it? What did I do?”
“You didn’t…” Her words trailed off when she saw herself reflected in his blue depths. How could she ever explain herself when he was so handsome and so close and all she wanted to do was kiss him again and again?
And again…
“Sara?”
“What are we doing, Michael?”
A grin tugged at that sexy mouth. “I know what we were doing, but I’m not sure what we’re doing now.” His thumbs stroked over her tingling lips. “And I know what I want to start doing again as soon as you stop talking.”

I noticed that too but I thought you meant to. It kind of works broken up… I figured you wrote the parts separately.
Nope. I’m pretty sure it was a plugin I was trying that I didn’t like. Guess I didn’t ever get around to fixing all the code in the affected chapters after getting rid of it. Oh well. Who has time to monkey with code when there’s so much writing and editing to do?
I’m rereading looking for stuff I might have missed in the earlier chapters. LOVE this chapter (obviously)! Love Sara’s thoughts here! Tingly, lol.
I just wish I could figure out why the chapter is split into six different pages? Can’t decide if I’d like it better if it were just one long screen.
