The Freelancer – Chapter 87

Chad laughed at how easy it was to elude the agent following him.  He’d learned to drive on these roads and knew just how to get away.  The agent probably reached the dead end before he realized he was no longer following the correct car.

Fulfillment of his revenge was close now.  So much had been put into the planning that Chad was on autopilot.  He was unstoppable now.

Once he reached his destination, he pulled over.  He slipped into his coveralls and grabbed the bag.  The FBI might know who he was, but they would never be able to figure out his plan until it was too late.  It was too ingenious.

It was the fuel.  They would never think to check for contaminated fuel.  Even if they did, it was unlikely they’d notice his nasty little creation until it was too late.  It would remain dormant in the fuel until after takeoff.  Once enough of the fuel burned, the chemicals would produce a highly toxic gas that would seep into the cockpit, killing the pilots.  With no one to fly the plane, every man, woman, and child on board would die.

Chad learned on the internet that after the appropriate amount a fuel was determined for a particular flight, the airlines would mark the container it was in with the flight number to avoid confusion.  It still baffled him that one could find out those kinds of details on the web, but he wasn’t complaining.  His task was reduced by Monday Night Football.  Apparently, all of his enemies would be on the same flight tomorrow to attend Monday’s game.

Chad enjoyed the irony.  The very game that brought those scoundrels together against him, the game they loved with all their life, would bring them together to die.
