Chad opened the door to Jenna’s condo and switched on the light. Judging from the gifts Jenna and that other guy were carrying, he should have plenty of time to do what he needed to do. He set his lock picking tools on the entry table and instinctively walked down the hall to where the bedroom was.
He took stock of the bedroom furniture in an attempt to decide the best place for his devices. Women were predictable and Jenna had much of the same furniture he’d expected her to have. Chad found he was well prepared. Moving swiftly from room to room, he was done in almost no time. The only set back he encountered was a pesky grey cat that wouldn’t leave him alone. Chad hated animals. People gave those inferior creatures so much more credit for their capacity for intelligence than they deserved.
Especially cats. He toyed with the idea of relieving Jenna of that particular burden, but he discarded the idea. She had always been the kind of sap who would cry at the sight of what had once been an animal on the side of the road. No, he would not do anything today, but he would be damned if that beast ever came to live with him.
He gave the apartment a final walkthrough to ensure he hadn’t displaced anything she would be sure to notice. Once he was satisfied, he picked up the last of his equipment from the entry table and left as quietly as he had entered. Chad paused a moment in front of the condo across from hers. While he was tempted to plant the extra devices in his home as well, he knew that this guy wouldn’t be around long enough to get in the way.
“You made a promise to me, Jenna,” he muttered to himself as he walked down the stairs to his car. “You can have your fun with your new little boyfriend, for now, but you will be mine. You will keep your promise to me, my sweet, or it will be your last.”
