Foresight is Flawless – Chapter 29

“We need to make sure we’re right before we go anywhere and start tossing accusations around.”

I shot my partner an irritated look. “You act like you think we’re wrong all of the sudden.”

Brandon shook his head. “No, I know they’re all connected, but I don’t want to go over there and blow the investigation by tipping our hand before it’s time.”

“Then what do you want to do because I’m out of ideas?”

“Let’s call the school back and see if we can get a real name for Ramsey.”

His idea had some merit. I tried to get Shadley back on the phone, but was informed that he’d already left for the day and would not return until tomorrow afternoon. After receiving their assurance that he’d taken care of sending the yearbook I hung up and shrugged at him. “Any other ideas?”

“Nope. Let’s go see what we can get by bluffing.”

I nodded. “Okay, but I want to check on Jenna on the way.”

“Not a good idea,” Brandon said as we walked out to the parking lot. “If you find out Jenna’s upset then you won’t be able to leave. Or you’ll be off your game when we do chat with Covington.”

I relented and got in his car. We drove in relative silence until we got to the estate. Another car passed through the gates just ahead of us so we hung back long enough to not alert them to our presence. When Skylar got out of her car and went to the door I knew that we weren’t wrong about this.

“How do you want to play this, Dinsley?”

He ran his fingers through his hair. “I’m not sure. I have a hunch things will unravel on their own once we bust in on the three of them.”

I rubbed my palms together in anticipation. “All right. Let’s do this.”
