LWLU Update

Instead of the regularly scheduled Love Will Lead Us chapter, please enjoy this preview prologue of The Alliance, Part 2 of the Undercover Series. (But it will make total sense even if you haven’t read The Freelancer.) This one starts the first week of March, but more information about the story will be released next week. The lines are drawn…It’s time to pick your side.

Check back in next week for multiple LWLU updates. How many? I’ll never tell. ;)

When Angels Weep Announcement

As some of you know, I’m working on a novel to submit for publication this year. It’s not something I’m writing publicly in case having it online hinders my ability to sell it, but I will be letting anyone who’d like to read do so in a more secure part of this site. If you’d like to participate in reading the novel as I write it before I get it published, please let me know and I’ll send you all the details.

Please note: If you’re able to supply feedback on grammar, structure, etc; that’s a double bonus to me, but anyone who wants to read from a reader’s perspective and let me know what you think of how the story’s unfolding is fine too. I need both kinds of readers. ;)

For anyone interested, here’s the first story teaser I posted to the notes section on my Facebook page:

Somewhere in the world a child fights for clarity through a haze of unwanted drugs. Elsewhere, a heavy metal band takes the sacred oath to protect a supernatural being. In a Texas suburb, a fake internet psychic learns her dreams are more than just imagination.

When time itself is on the verge of collapse, these forces are all that stand between humanity and its unfathomable demise…

Happy Holidays

Hey, y’all. I wanted to take the opportunity to wish everyone Happy Holidays. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas or Chanuka or Yule or just waiting to ring in the New Year next week, I hope everyone has a safe and happy time.

Just a couple of quick announcements:

  • No new chapters on Christmas Day. I was going to update Love Will Lead Us, but I’m going to take the day off instead. The story will be back as scheduled on New Year’s Day. I thought skipping this week would be better than throwing something together in between cookie batches.
  • The Freelancer has continuous posts through the end of the year and extra posts the first week of January. If you haven’t yet, now’s the time to check it out. I’m told things seem to be heating up. ;)
  • Earlier in the week, I asked for some reader feedback. If you haven’t responded yet, I hope you’ll take the time because it would really help me out.

Enjoy your holidays,

Jen

Call for Reader Feedback

With the new year nearly upon us, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the future of this site. I’ve come to some decisions, but more importantly, I’ve realized I need your help. Here’s the plan for the coming year:

Once The Freelancer comes to an end, I’ll start posting the next novel in the series, currently titled The Alliance. More info on that one will be available as the current story starts to wrap up. (Obviously, I can’t give away the ending by talking about the sequel, now can I?)

I’m not sure what to do once Love Will Lead Us is over. Should I post another original story or do y’all want me to repost more fan fiction? If it’s the latter, which one do y’all want next?

But I’m not content with just writing online. It’s time for me to pull together a story worthy of submitting to publishers. I’ve already got a few novels I’m choosing between right now, but this is where I need your help. If anyone’s interested in reading a manuscript as I write it (via email), please let me know. I’m joining two professional writing organizations in January that offer critique groups, so I don’t necessarily need someone to educate me on refining my craft. Really, I’d rather have a reader’s perspective on it.  (But if you really want to gripe at me over a misplaced comma, that’s okay, too.)

And of course, if you have any other thoughts or suggestions, I’d love to hear them. :)

Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving today.

Even though I’m off celebrating the holiday today, Love Will Lead Us has a new chapter scheduled for tomorrow. Enjoy!

Readers of The Freelancer, you have a holiday treat heading your way. Starting Monday, December 21, new chapters post every day (except Fridays) through the end of the year. And it looks like I’ve timed it just right because that’s when the real intrigue begins. ;)

The Freelancer Returns

The Freelancer returns with twice weekly postings on Monday, November 16th.

Make sure to check back every Monday and Wednesday for updates.

Or subscribe to the feed and never miss a post again.

Happy Reading.

New Story Announcement – Love Will Lead Us

The picture has nothing to do with it, but it was popping up in my control panel and I thought it looked cool…

As you may have noticed, Ritual Awakening is taking a short break while I work on a special freelance article project.  The Freelancer is also still on hiatus.  Both will be back in November.

But I can’t leave the site dead, now can I?

So, to fill the time gap, without driving myself nuts trying to write something, I’m going to go ahead and move an existing story over here.  It’ll be a bit different because it’s a Prison Break fan fiction, but trust me, you don’t need to know the show or the characters to understand the story – just an angsty drama.

The repost of Love Will Lead Us will begin this week and will be on an accelerated posting schedule to get this site caught up, so make sure to check back often for updates.  Better still, plug in your email at the upper right to subscribe.  Don’t worry…still no spam. :)

And if angst and drama isn’t your cup o’ tea, all the suspense, romance and intrigue of the other two will be back in November.

Still haven’t caught up on The Freelancer or Ritual Awakening? Now’s your chance!

Site Announcement

Hey y’all.  Just wanted to interrupt the flow of chapters to thank everyone for reading.  (Yep, I know you’re here even if you aren’t saying anything…well, not “you” specifically, but someone.)  Anyway.  Your continued support of my writing endeavor is very much appreciated!

Now onto some quick information on both of the books currently available on this site…

Ritual Awakening (Part 1 of the Denying Destiny Trilogy)

Well, the full moon is finally here so that means it’s time for the Ritual Awakening to begin!  If you didn’t catch the prologue then be sure to check it out before reading the first chapter when it becomes available.  For anyone who’s been reading The Freelancer or any of my fan fiction, this one is going to have a VERY different tone than the other…yet be somehow familiar.   ;)

The Freelancer (Book 1 in the Undercover Series)

The Freelancer will be going on hiatus during the month of July to make way for a proper launch of Ritual Awakening.  If you’ve fallen behind – or haven’t started it yet – then now is your chance to catch up on the suspense and the romance.  Enjoy the breather until it returns in August because once it returns, expect things to take a dramatic turn.  You won’t want to miss it!

Never Miss a Post Again!

Don’t want to risk missing a new chapter of your favorite online novel?  (Okay…your favorite online novel on this site…)  Sign up for e-mail updates at the top of the center sidebar and updates will be delivered right to your inbox.

“What’s your littlest sin?”

Reblog this post [with Zemanta]

Welcome to Your Littlest Sin

Hello and welcome to Your Littlest Sin.  Some of you may already know exactly what this site is all about because you received an invitation from a different site.  Others may have run across me purely by accident.  Regardless, you may well be wondering what an online fiction site is doing with a name like Your Littlest Sin.

Well, you could ask my best friend, Star, but I’ll be nice and answer that so as not to inundate her inbox with the same question over and over – though that would be sort of fun for me…

When I was deciding on a name for the site, I knew I wanted more than just jnicolewhitten.com for the actual fiction I’d be posting.  (jnicolewhitten.com is, however, on the way since every author really needs to have their own website to talk about how awesome they are, right?)  More than wanting something beyond my name, I wanted something that would represent my body of work in an unusual way.  As I do with virtually everything I’m trying to decide, I tossed the question over to Star.

So, yes, Your Littlest Sin is really her doing; however, she’s going to comment and say that if I hadn’t gotten her hooked on “The Feel Good Drag” by Anberlin then she wouldn’t have had that line stuck in her head while doing laundry in the first place.  *shrugs*  It doesn’t matter who thought it up, really; it matters that the name is perfect for my purposes.

Consider the word sin. What comes to your mind?  Murder?  Sex?  Crime?

Evil?

All these things can be found in my writing to varying degrees.  All the little sins – and the big ones – are the spice that make it worth reading.  Or at least, that’s my hope.

But why Your Littlest Sin?  Simple.  Don’t we all have other things beyond reading tugging at our limited time?  When I consider all I should be doing when a book is instead in my hands I can usually find a way to rationalize it in such a way that it’s more than just my own selfishness.  Perhaps reading is my littlest sin…but it would be awesome if it were the biggest. ;)

So, I do hope you’ll enjoy your time spent here reading about my characters while they engage in all their little sins.  Look at it this way, it’s better than going out there and committing them for yourself, isn’t it?
