Alliance – Chapter 13

Raptor paced around his office restlessly.  Two years was a long time to walk the straight and narrow.  The First Alliance heist had been his largest take by far, but it still gnawed at him that it didn’t go exactly according to the plan. His plan.

Down to the last detail, everything was perfect.

If only Ramsey hadn’t lost his cool at the end of things and blown his cover. Eliminating the crew was never part of the plan. At least, they would’ve lived until they helped him launder the money.

Fucking Ramsey and his mouth. Shoot one little customer to tie a final loose end and he came unglued. If Ramsey hadn’t let his name slip, Raptor would’ve pulled a dozen more jobs by now.

Instead, he was bored.

“At least you got what you deserved, Ramsey.  Even if it wasn’t at my hands,” Raptor said to himself as he sat down at his desk.

It was time to find a new score that would put Raptor back in the papers.  Unfortunately, bank security was tighter since the last heist and he would need someone on the inside if he was going to make it work.  Despite his intense hatred for Ramsey, he wished he were still alive.

No one was better at disarming people’s skepticism than he was.  He’d had the sort of face people would trust in an instant and forget as soon as he was gone.  Wheelmen and muscle were a dime a dozen, but an inside man with such versatility was a rare find.  The only person Raptor had ever known who could match Ramsey’s skill was himself, but he could hardly play that role.

His face was far too recognizable in this town.
