Alliance – Chapter 119

It was hard to leave Price’s warm embrace once the alarm went off. I wasn’t sure why, but I had this nagging feeling something was going to go wrong at the bank. It took every ounce of willpower I could summon to pull myself together before he realized what a basket case I was.

He must have sensed how tense I still was because he remained fairly quiet as we got ready to go. A part of me wanted to run away from all of this, to ask Price to run away with me, and be done with all this madness. Now that I knew the name of the man who killed my father, it almost didn’t matter to me who took him down as long as Price was safe with me.

But I never asked. After our earlier conversation about him staying out of it…I didn’t want to know whether he’d pick revenge against Raptor or staying with me.

I might not win that one.

We all agreed last night that Cherry would meet Raptor before the heist and they would ride together. It was a good thing she was okay with that because it meant someone would be able to keep an eye on him and make sure he didn’t switch weapons. I could only imagine how much she wanted this day to be over.

Chill was the one who needed to make the deposit so he would be in his own car. Once he called to confirm that the package had been delivered, we were supposed to make our move. He’d monitor the police scanners and meet up with us at the rendezvous site.

Price and I would ride together. Even though it would have been safer for all of us to be in separate cars on the way from the bank to first switch site, I didn’t think I’d be capable of making my usual offensive maneuvers behind the wheel. If nothing else, it would give us an extra choice of vehicles for the switch.

Just before eight-thirty, I made the call to the monitoring center. Despite knowing my impersonation of Michael’s assistant was dead on, my heart was pounding so badly that I could barely make it through the call. Somehow I managed to complete the task and we had one hour to take care of things. The cameras and alarms would remain in maintenance mode until it was too late for them to be useful.

First Alliance was blind and deaf, a sitting duck.

Price made one final sweep of the townhouse to make sure we had everything we’d need and asked, “Are you ready to get going?”

No. “Yeah.” Inwardly, I shuddered because I was anything but. “Let’s do this thing.”

Uh oh!! Skylar has a bad feeling huh!!! Hopefully it will all go better than the last time……

Mmmm……..Cherry is meeting with Raptor before the heist to make sure he doesn’t ‘switch’ weapons………wouldn’t he be able to do that anytime??

I guess I would have assumed that he (Raptor) would have his own stash – or fave weapon of choice…..

*jumps up and down on chair* Ooooo….it’s getting so close……!!!

Wouldn’t you have a bad feeling if you were about to rob your best friend’s bank with the man you loved and the man who murdered your father?

At the last meeting, Chill was filling everyone in on where they’d pick up their first car and weapons before the heist. Having a fave gun is too risky. Ballistics…

It really is. If you haven’t already figured out who Raptor is, you’ll know by this time tomorrow when we get to chapter 122.
