Alliance – Chapter 11

Parker was glad his connections within the county were still intact; otherwise, he might have ended up spending hours standing in lines and flirting with lonely looking clerks to no avail.  He set down the blueprints on the desk and retrieved a pad of paper from the drawer.  From his first glance at the diagram, he knew this would not be an easy task.

His cell phone rang as he was detailing the security systems.

“Yeah,” he barked into the phone.

“You are a difficult man to track down, Ramsey,” Chill said.

“Dead men normally are.  What do you need?”

“Skylar is asking questions about you.  How do you want me to handle it?” If he caught the irritation in Parker’s tone, he wasn’t showing it. Cool as a cucumber, as usual. There were many reasons why they called him Chill and that was among them.

Parker thought about that before answering.  “What have you told her so far?”

“Just to watch her back and that you were dangerous.”

“Good.  Tell her as little as possible.”

“I can try, but she pays me well and is…persistent, to say the least.  I may have to throw her a bone here and there.”

“Alright.  We go way back, Chill.  I trust your judgment.  You know what’s going on here, so tell her whatever you feel like you can without showing our hand.  I can’t have this compromised this early in the game.”

“I will stay available.  Keep me posted.” Chill disconnected.

Parker frowned at the blueprints.  Bank security turned more complex over the last two years than he thought possible.  Despite the skeleton of his plan coming together in his mind, he was grateful he had some time to pull off this job.  Designing the perfect crime was always the easy part for him and this time would be no different.

The hard part would be convincing Skylar Montgomery to go along with the real score.

  1. During the first meeting with Skylar, Parker says he faked his death. (No point keeping you intrigued over a detail we’ve covered…I have plenty more intrigue in store.) ;)

I will say this…you’re not the only one who wonders whether Parker and Raptor are the same person. Let’s just say, the true nature of their affiliation may cause some complications as we go. (But you already guessed that, didn’t you? Especially knowing how I love my wicked curve balls…)
