The Freelancer – Chapter 59

Sunday, October 5

As I’d expected, this week’s Sunday dinner turned out to be a birthday party for Lana, complete with fifteen five year olds.  I could tell Elaine put a great deal of effort into the 50’s sock hop for her daughter, though I couldn’t figure out why.  They were far too young to be familiar with any of the music.  More than one little girl asked me during the ‘pin the kiss on Elvis’ game who he was. LWLU – Minor Misconceptions

To say Sara was upset would be the understatement of a lifetime. This was unforgivable. The whole situation was her friend’s fault and couldn’t be undone. Not now. Fury filled her veins. Read more »

Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving today.

Even though I’m off celebrating the holiday today, Love Will Lead Us has a new chapter scheduled for tomorrow. Enjoy!

Readers of The Freelancer, you have a holiday treat heading your way. Starting Monday, December 21, new chapters post every day (except Fridays) through the end of the year. And it looks like I’ve timed it just right because that’s when the real intrigue begins. ;)

Jen

The Freelancer – Chapter 58

Jenna struggled to get out of Trista’s leather pants for a moment before remembering she hadn’t taken off her shoes yet.  She reached for her shoes and tumbled back onto the bed.  The shoes hit the floor with a thud and she winced.  Good thing Trista was staying at Blaine’s that night.  Even if she weren’t too drunk to avoid making noise with her shoes, the walls in the condo weren’t as thick as she’d like. Especially not when the nosy best friend’s bedroom was directly below. Read more »

The Freelancer – Chapter 57

“Hello, Jackson.  Fancy meeting you here.”

The sound of his voice made my blood run cold.  His tone was cordial enough, but something insidious lurked in his eyes.  I pulled my thoughts together as rapidly as I could.  He couldn’t know I was onto him.

Not until I was ready to slap the cuffs on him. Read more »

LWLU – “I’m Pregnant”

Before Sara could pull her eyes away from Paul through the window and turn to her friend, she added, “I’m pregnant.”

Sara glanced around the room and gestured in the direction of her bedroom. “Let’s talk in there where we’ll have some privacy.” Once she’d closed the door, “Are you sure?  I mean, completely sure?” Read more »

The Freelancer – Chapter 56

“I need to make the rounds to see if everything is running smoothly.  Will you two be okay by yourselves?” Blaine asked. Read more »

The Freelancer – Chapter 55

Even for a Saturday night, Blaine’s Rain was packed.  I was grateful we met in a private room at the back of the club.  As a rule, I wasn’t a fan of large crowds.  The situation was nearly impossible to control.  Anything could happen and I wouldn’t be able to do anything to stop it. Read more »

LWLU – Icy Survival

The hallway was silent.  For long moments, no one looked at anyone else as the implications of Michael’s words set in.  Jane was the first to speak, her voice sounding foreign against the silence. Read more »

LWLU – …Breaks Loose

Thinking naught of her commando clothing situation, she raced back up the stairs to the source of the commotion, giving Michael an eyeful from behind her.  Sara stopped short at the top of the stairs taking in the surreal scene unfolding in front of her eyes.  If the look of guilt on Lincoln’s face wasn’t so genuine then she would think she was being Punk’d.
